Microsoft Copilot Learn Hub

Microsoft's official learning hub for getting started with Copilot in the apps you already use — Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more.

Last updated May 2, 2026

Microsoft’s Copilot Learn hub is the official starting point for anyone new to using Copilot inside the Microsoft 365 apps they already work in every day. It covers both Microsoft Copilot (the free chat experience that comes with your MSU account) and Microsoft 365 Copilot Premium (the paid, agentic experience that connects directly to your Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint content).

MSU faculty, staff, and students have access to at least the basic Copilot experience by signing in with their NetID. Start here to make sure you are getting value from what you already have.

What you’ll find

  • Get started guides — step-by-step walkthroughs for using Copilot in Outlook (drafting and summarizing email), Teams (meeting recap, chat summarization), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Prompting basics — Microsoft’s “Goal, Context, Source, Expectation” prompt framework for getting better results.
  • Short videos — most under five minutes, organized by app.
  • Feature updates — what’s new each month, since Copilot capabilities are continuously updated.

Why this resource

  • Official Microsoft documentation — accurate and updated as features ship.
  • Covers the no-cost Copilot experience that most MSU users already have access to via their NetID.
  • App-by-app organization makes it easy to learn just the part you need.
  • Pairs well with the MSU AI Tools page if you want to understand which features require Premium.

Suggested for

New Copilot users, faculty, staff, and students, who already have Copilot in Outlook and Teams but have not explored what it can do, and anyone evaluating whether Copilot Premium is worth requesting for their team.
