Maroon Chat, at maroon.aihub.msstate.edu, brings leading AI models together in one interface. Instead of separate tools for ChatGPT, Grok, and others, you can reach them in a single conversation, inside MSU's environment, with your MSU sign-in.

MSU faculty, staff, and students have access to Microsoft Copilot and through Copilot access to OpenAI's GPT-5 family and Anthropic's Claude 5 series.
Copilot brings these models into the MSU Microsoft 365 environment, so people can use them securely with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and other workplace tools. Microsoft is consistently adding new capabilities, agents, and advanced tools.
There are two versions of Copilot. Everyone has access to Copilot Basic at no charge to your department. Copilot Basic provides a safe, conversational AI experience inside the Microsoft environment. This baseline version allows you to ask questions, draft content, explore ideas, and interact with your files in a secure workspace. You have access to some agents and the ability to make basic agents for your own use.
For people whose work would benefit from more advanced use cases, you may choose to purchase Microsoft Copilot Premium at $18 per month, paid annually by your department or by you. MSU faculty, staff, and students now have access to Google Gemini and NotebookLM using their MSU NetID credentials. These tools are provisioned campus-wide and offer enterprise-grade data protection when users sign in with their MSU accounts.
Gemini supports tasks such as writing, research assistance, and multimodal content creation, while NotebookLM provides a powerful, source-grounded environment for analyzing documents with zero hallucinations. This rollout ensures that our campus community can securely explore and apply leading AI capabilities in learning, teaching, and research.

MSU provides access to several enterprise licenses for AI tools for faculty and staff for additional cost. The cost is usually the responsibility of the department, though Copilot Premium can also be bought personally. Below is information about available tools, costs, and how to request access.

Full version of Claude available through MSU's Claude for Enterprise Education agreement. Claude Enterprise Standard is $20 per month per seat and Claude Enterprise Premium is $50 per month per seat.
Google's AI platform with higher use limits and capabilities. Volume affects the cost but should be $20 per month or less.
These licenses are assigned to an MSU employee and are licensed on an annual basis. Most are departmental purchases. Copilot Premium can also be purchased personally through Banner. Should the holder of a departmental license leave MSU or decide not to use the account, the license is transferable to someone else at the discretion of the responsible department.
Copilot Premium licenses are ordered online through MSU. A department can buy seats for its people, or you can buy a single license for yourself. Which form you use depends on who is paying.
